The recovery path
The method follows the failure—not a generic script.
Controlled imaging
When the drive can be read safely, priority is placed on creating a stable sector-level image instead of browsing the failing original.
File-system reconstruction
Partitions, folders, and files are reconstructed from the best available image while preserving the original media.
Advanced escalation
Mechanical, firmware, or severe media cases follow an advanced path and may require donor components or vetted specialist clean-air work.

Do not run repair utilities on a clicking or unstable drive.
CHKDSK, First Aid, repeated cloning attempts, and consumer recovery scans can force a failing drive to read every weak area. If the data matters, stop and evaluate the hardware condition first.

Can data be recovered from a clicking hard drive?
Sometimes. Clicking often indicates a mechanical, head, firmware, or media-access problem. Power the drive off because every additional attempt can increase platter damage. Recovery potential is determined only after evaluation.
Should I freeze, tap, or open the hard drive?
No. Freezing introduces condensation, tapping can damage heads and platters, and opening a drive outside an appropriate controlled environment can contaminate the recording surface.
Can you recover an external USB hard drive?
Yes, many external-drive cases involve the enclosure bridge, connector, electronics, firmware, file system, or the drive mechanism itself. Keep the original enclosure, cable, and power adapter with the case when possible.
Do I pay if no usable data is recovered?
NEPFOSYS follows a no-data, no-recovery-fee policy for eligible cases. Return shipping, donor parts, destination media, or expressly approved third-party costs may be separate and are disclosed before they are incurred.
